Sisters.

I get to photograph a lot of sisters, but these two might just be my favorite pair of sisters yet.  When my friend, Melaney, asked if I would capture the special bond between her 87-year-old grandmother and her 85-year-old great aunt, I jumped at the chance.  These sisters live next to each other in Franklin and have been best friends their whole lives.  They have lived through polio.  They have lived through WWII.  They have lived through many children and grandchildren.  I knew that they would have fascinating stories to share.  And I knew that they would probably offer me pie and coffee at the end (they did!).  :)    As a side note, I learned why most people of this age drink their coffee black, or at least without sugar… it’s because sugar was rationed during WWII so they learned to drink coffee without it.  I am so thankful for this generation of folks and have so much admiration for them!

Brand New Year!

Happy New Year!  2011 is going to be a year of changes for me.  This year will mark my 5th year in business, and I continue to learn and grow each year.  As the years have gone by, every year more and more clients have been asking for digital files.  There are so many things you can do with digital images these days… from blogs to Facebook, iPhones, screen savers, digital frames… not to mention very affordable printing options being offered at some high-quality places.  So here’s the big change… I am going to make the switch over to the digital world and include the high-resolution digital files with each session.  The 2011 session fees will include your digital files on a custom image disk to keep forever.  Printing rights will be included, and you may print your own photos anytime, anywhere (of course there are a few specific places that I will recommend).

Now that each client will have the digital files, I am going to make custom birth announcements and Christmas cards a thing of the past.  I have seen some of the cards that my clients have created through other online digital stores and some of them are very impressive.  I am happy to recommend a few sites that offer quality greeting cards using your digital images.

I am going to make a concerted effort this year to limit the number of sessions each season in order to perform at my absolute best for each client.  I want each session to get the proper attention to detail from start to finish.  Hopefully, these changes are going to mean good things for my clients.  I have met some of the most incredible folks that I know through this job, and I am so grateful for the many friendships that I have been blessed with.  Five years ago, I never (seriously, NEVER) dreamed that my business would be where it is today.  I am very excited about what the next five years will bring!

Having said all of that, I have updated my calendar and am now taking appointments for the spring!  Please email me or give me a call if you would like to set up an appointment.  You can view the 2011 pricing here, and please note that there is a different session fee for weekdays versus evenings/weekends.  There is also a non-refundable deposit due at the time of booking.  Let me know if you have any questions!

And to all of the teachers out there, I hope you are well-rested for the big back-to-school day tomorrow!  My kids have had a lot of sugar over the break!  :)

Now booking the remainder of 2010.

It’s time to start planning for fall!  I have updated my calendar to reflect the “open” dates/times that I have available through November.  You will notice that there are three “Mini-Session Days” on the calendar.  This is something new that I have decided to offer this year, and here is the info!

MINI-SESSIONS:  The dates are September 25, October 23, and November 6.  All mini-sessions will be held at the historic Carnton Plantation in Franklin and will last 25 minutes, so please be on time and ready to go (and please do not plan on clothing changes… I want to use every minute of available time to capture your family!).  The cost of a mini-session is $285 and it includes the session fee plus a CD with 15-20 full-resolution edited images (with reprinting rights).  Perfect for Christmas cards and gifts!

And while we’re on the subject of Christmas cards… I will only be offering a limited number of card designs this year, because I simply do not have time during the busy fall season to create/edit/proof multiple samples for each client.  For those of you who purchase the digital files, you are free to upload the images to any card maker you like, and there are a ton of good ones out there.  My two favorite card companies (at least at the moment) are Mango Ink and Minted.  Both of these companies have some very fun designs and print their cards on high-quality paper.  I will definitely be ordering my personal cards from one of these two places!

I am excited about the last half of 2010 and anticipate another great year with my FABULOUS clients!!!  If you have any questions or want to get your awesome self on my calendar, email me!
