Monthly Archives: March 2011

Four people twelve times \ \ March

March… the month of wind and taxes.

Taking these monthly pictures is making me realize just how fast the year is flying by.  The kids love our teeny tiny heads and our giant tall legs in the shadow, while  I love that I can see Torin’s braid on the right side of her neck.  She lets me put two French braids in her hair every morning before school, but I have to work fast.  She allows me 50 seconds for each side, and she counts out loud while I’m braiding.  Sometimes the pressure gets to me and the braid turns out more crooked than Lombard Street.  I’m thankful that she shows some leniency if she sees that I’m not going to make it.  She’ll slow down and drag it out (forty-eight… forty-nine… forty-nine and a quarter… forty-nine and a half…).

I’m so glad that April is almost here.  Bring on the baseball.

Anna Elizabeth, age 1.

Hard to believe this girl is one already!  Anna Elizabeth was so much fun to play with yesterday.  I was not surprised to discover that her favorite person in the whole world is her big brother.  All he has to do is say her name and her little face lights up!

Sisters.

I get to photograph a lot of sisters, but these two might just be my favorite pair of sisters yet.  When my friend, Melaney, asked if I would capture the special bond between her 87-year-old grandmother and her 85-year-old great aunt, I jumped at the chance.  These sisters live next to each other in Franklin and have been best friends their whole lives.  They have lived through polio.  They have lived through WWII.  They have lived through many children and grandchildren.  I knew that they would have fascinating stories to share.  And I knew that they would probably offer me pie and coffee at the end (they did!).  :)    As a side note, I learned why most people of this age drink their coffee black, or at least without sugar… it’s because sugar was rationed during WWII so they learned to drink coffee without it.  I am so thankful for this generation of folks and have so much admiration for them!

Haley & Brad are engaged!

My kids and I enjoyed a little mini-spring break this week when we traveled up to Illinois to visit my hometown for a few days.  While I was there, I got to take engagement pictures of my younger sister and her new man!  No official date has been set yet, but I’m excited about getting a new brother-in-law very soon!

Reagan, age 8 months.

Today felt like a wonderful little preview to what (hopefully) lies ahead for us in the weather department!  While I’ve had many indoor sessions lately with some sweet little babies, it has actually been over three months since I’ve done a family session outdoors.  I was scared that I’d be a little rusty, but after I dusted off the ole 70-200mm lens, it all started coming back to me.  :)  I am looking forward to seeing many repeat clients and some brand new families in the upcoming months!

And now for Miss Reagan… she has grown a ton of hair since I last saw her, and she is minutes away from learning to crawl!  I just love her and her big sister!
