Say hello to my cute little friend! He just had his big FIRST birthday! :)

There’s a first time for everything. Saturday was the first time that I photographed an entire family session in the rain. Oh yes I did. If you’re looking for something fun to do, try editing out raindrops in Photoshop. :) Thank goodness this beautiful family was so easy-going! They didn’t complain about the rain one bit!

By the end of the hour, we could no longer call it a drizzle. We were getting poured on! Thank goodness for older brothers who rescue little sisters from the rain! :)

Little boys are so awesome. They’re funny, they’re full of energy, they can make weird noises, and they smile any time you yell a gross word. These boys are two of my favorites. Camden is almost five, and Jones just turned two. I got to hang out with them today at their new house, and we did lots of boy stuff… we buried our toes in the mud, we counted the tadpoles in their frog pond, we picked ants out of the mulch, we talked on walkie-talkies, we rode bikes, and we kicked the soccer ball. Then we went inside and raided the candy bag. I could not have asked for a better morning. :)

I cannot even tell you how excited I was to meet this girl! I hadn’t seen her parents since I got to photograph their gorgeous wedding over two and a half years ago, and now they have a beautiful little one named Ella Shannon! We were actually supposed to get together on Saturday morning but got rained out. I thought tonight was going to be clear skies and smooth sailing, but it started thundering as soon as we started the session… we finished just before the sky opened up!

It was absolutely sweltering on Saturday afternoon, but take a look at this gorgeous family… they played it cool the entire time! The girls were so cute, and I captured several shots of the two of them, but I was proud of myself for remembering their mom & dad. My goal this year is to remember to photograph the parents individually at some point during the session! I tend to focus on the children, which is what most people want. I know as adults, it sometimes feels awkward to be in front of the camera all alone, but twenty, thirty, or fifty years from now, I think it’s something their kids will cherish! :)

I got to photograph Claire, David & Luke (and their beautiful mama!) yesterday at Belle Meade Plantation! Can’t think of a better way to ring in the month of May!
